What the extension does

Douania assists the customs declarant between their Douania application, the BADR customs portal (badr.douane.gov.ma) and the carriers' tracking pages:

  • it looks a dossier up in your Douania application, copies its values and, on your request, prefills fields of the declaration in BADR;
  • on BADR's Articles tab, after your click, it sends the container list to your dossier;
  • when you click « Lire cette page », it reads a Maersk (www.maersk.com), CMA CGM (www.cma-cgm.com), Tarros (www.tarros.it) or MSC (www.msc.com) tracking page you opened, and it sends that reading to your dossier when you click « Envoyer au dossier »;
  • when you click « Actualiser » in a dossier of your application, it opens in a minimized window the container's Maersk tracking page (www.maersk.com), where it clicks at most once, when the page is folded, the « View N events completed from origin » fold, or the CMA CGM tracking page (www.cma-cgm.com), where it types the container number in the search box, clicks « Search », then at most once « Display Previous Moves », or the MSC tracking page (www.msc.com), where it types the container number in the tracking box and clicks the search button of that form; it clicks nothing else; it reads the page, closes it and sends the reading to your dossier;
  • when you click « Chercher les conteneurs » in a dossier of your application, it opens in a minimized window, as for « Actualiser », the CMA CGM tracking page (www.cma-cgm.com), where it types the dossier's booking or bill of lading number in the search box, clicks « Search », then at most once, on the results page, the first « Display Details », to show the ports of loading and discharge, or the MSC tracking page (www.msc.com), where it types it in the tracking box and clicks the search button of that form, without typing or clicking anything else (never the « Display Previous Moves » fold); it reads the page, closes it and sends the list of the containers of that booking or bill of lading to your dossier; it never adds the containers: you add them, with a click, in the application;
  • when you click « Lire cette page » on a VesselFinder page (www.vesselfinder.com) you opened, a search of ships by name or a ship's page, it shows what it reads there (the ships found, or the ship's position, destination, expected arrival and last port), without clicking or typing anything there, and sends nothing to your dossier;
  • when you click « Identifier le navire » in a dossier of your application (when it offers it), it opens in a minimized window, as for « Actualiser », the VesselFinder search of ships by the dossier's ship name, by its address alone, without typing or clicking anything there; it reads the ships found on the first page (20 at most: name, type, year of build, GT, DWT, length and beam, IMO or MMSI number), closes the window and sends the list to your dossier; it never chooses a ship: you choose one, in the application;
  • when you click « Actualiser le navire » in a dossier of your application (when it offers it), it opens in the same way the ship's page on VesselFinder by its IMO or MMSI number, by its address alone, without typing or clicking anything there; it reads the ship's position (sea area), destination, expected arrival, last port and departure from it, course and speed, draught, navigation status, flag, length and beam, year of build, closes the window and sends that reading to your dossier;
  • for these two buttons, no link is followed and one address is opened per read; a failure (no result, page not recognized, site changed, permission missing) is also sent to your dossier, with its code. Same queue as « Actualiser » (one read at a time), with at least 5 seconds between two VesselFinder page loads on the same computer, unless the extension is reloaded in between.

Data read

  • The content of the BADR pages you open: the declaration fields the extension fills, the container list of the Articles tab, the lists of the Port Net sub-tab.
  • Your dossiers' data, read from your own Douania application through the session you opened there.
  • The content of the tracking pages you open (www.maersk.com, www.cma-cgm.com, www.tarros.it, www.msc.com, www.vesselfinder.com) or that the extension opens on « Actualiser » (www.maersk.com, www.cma-cgm.com, www.msc.com), on « Chercher les conteneurs » (www.cma-cgm.com, www.msc.com) or on « Identifier le navire » and « Actualiser le navire » (www.vesselfinder.com).

Where data goes

  • To your own Douania application, at the address you entered in the options: the container numbers read on BADR, the tracking readings, the container lists found by « Chercher les conteneurs », the list of ships found by « Identifier le navire » and the ship reading made by « Actualiser le navire », each time after a click.
  • To a carrier, after your click on « Actualiser »: only the container number, in the address of the Maersk page the extension opens, or typed in CMA CGM's or MSC's search box.
  • To CMA CGM or MSC, after your click on « Chercher les conteneurs »: only the dossier's booking or bill of lading number, typed in the search box; nothing else of the dossier.
  • To www.vesselfinder.com, after your click on « Identifier le navire » or on « Actualiser le navire »: only the ship's name, or its IMO or MMSI number, in the page's address; never a container number nor any other dossier data.
  • Nowhere else: the publisher receives no data.

What is kept in the browser, and for how long

  • The address of your Douania application (chrome.storage.local): until you save another one, or uninstall the extension.
  • The id of the window opened for an « Actualiser », « Chercher les conteneurs », « Identifier le navire » or « Actualiser le navire » read and the address of the page it shows, VesselFinder's holding the ship's name or its IMO or MMSI number and Maersk's holding the container number (chrome.storage.local): for the read; they are erased when the window closes, otherwise at the next cleanup (at browser start-up or before the next read).
  • The registration of the suivi-app.js script on your application's origin, kept by Chrome from one session to the next, until the address changes or the extension is uninstalled.
  • The current dossier card and the queue of « Actualiser », « Chercher les conteneurs », « Identifier le navire » and « Actualiser le navire » requests (chrome.storage.session): in memory, until the browser closes. The requests of the two ship buttons hold the dossier id and the ship's name or its IMO or MMSI number.
  • The time of the last CMA CGM search and that of the last MSC search, to keep two searches on one site at least 20 seconds apart, and that of the last VesselFinder page load, to keep two loads at least 5 seconds apart: in the extension's service memory, until it stops.
  • No password, no login identifier.

What the extension never does

  • No collection by the publisher, no analytics: the extension calls your application only, and opens only the carrier's page (Maersk, CMA CGM or MSC) on « Actualiser », or that of CMA CGM or MSC on « Chercher les conteneurs », or that of VesselFinder on « Identifier le navire » or on « Actualiser le navire ».
  • No sale of data; no transfer to a third party, apart from the numbers the carrier receives (the container number, the dossier's booking or bill of lading number) and, after your click on « Identifier le navire » or on « Actualiser le navire », the ship's name or IMO or MMSI number that VesselFinder receives.
  • No remote code: all the code is in the extension package.
  • No password is read or kept.
  • It never answers a site's cookie banner: on each PC, open www.cma-cgm.com, www.msc.com and www.vesselfinder.com once and answer it yourself when it shows.

Erasing what the extension keeps in the browser

Uninstall the extension (chrome://extensions, « Remove » button). The numbers and readings already sent to your dossiers stay in your Douania application.
